Elba High School's library media center supports and enhances the purpose of the school -- the total education of its students. Resources The library has approximately 7,000 books, 500+ curricular related videos, 40 periodical subscriptions, and 3 newspaper subscriptions. Sixteen computers with Internet connections are available for use in the main library, with sixteen others available in the library computer lab. The Alabama Virtual Library, an on-line database of periodicals, journals, and newspapers articles is accessible on all computers in the media center as well as others on campus. The library issues AVL cards for home use. One computer station is dedicated to the library search engine, Atriuum. Teachers may checkout videos and equipment for classroom use. Word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation programs are available on all computers. Computers are used for educational purposes according to handbook guidelines. Facilities The library is centrally located in the school building, which provides easy access for all students and faculty. The adjacent classroom has 16 computers and twelve student desks for a variety of activities. Study carrels are available for individual work or study areas. There are several comfortable areas for leisure reading. Teachers are encouraged to schedule class time for library research. Services · Die cutting machine to use for letters for bulletin boards or posters · Opaque projector for special projects or posters. · Student copying for 15 cents per page of text · Computer printing for educational purposes costs 15 cents per page of black and white text. Pictures or graphics cost more based on the size and detail · Basic school supplies, pens, pencils, paper, poster board, etc are sold.
